Well, I can honestly say this was a fantastic idea and I am so glad that we chose to do so with Scuba Junction. Scuba Junction isn’t the cheapest on the island but as far as we’re concerned you cannot put a price on safety. (And they are worth every penny!) As complete novices we started from the very beginning in a classroom format where for the first day we watched a PADI film to teach us the core essentials when it comes to diving. The lessons were then put into practise in the pool by our instructor Chips. (After an equipment orientation). Chips is a fantastic teacher!!!! As I was relatively nervous he eased my nerves and before I knew it all of my worries had gone. (And I was really enjoying it). Chips is an oracle of diving knowledge. He kept our lessons fun whilst teaching us so much. The lessons were over 4 days and were made up of 6 people: Chips - instructor Myself My husband Our new friend and fellow student And 2 training instructors for their own learning and our further support. We noticed that other (cheaper) diving schools had a high volumes of people during dives. But we felt lucky we had so much support. After practising our newly taught skills in the pool we graduated to our first ocean dive. Naturally, I became a bit nervous again as in a pool you can hold on to the side or get out of the water. But again, Chips listened, appreciated my apprehensions, calmed me down and got me through it. Again, as soon as I was in the ocean I forgot about my worries and was having a great time looking at all of the amazing fish and corals. Before I knew it I was on my final dive and filled with excitement. Initially learning to dive was something my husband wanted to do. But now I can hand on heart say how pleased I am that I joined him in learning. We can now explore the ocean together (up to 18m) and say it is the first achievement we did as a married couple. Without the patience, knowledge and support of Chips I would have given up. But he gave me the reassurances I needed, stayed with me during the dives (so I felt comfortable at all times) and by the end of it I felt really confident. Thank you to all the team at Scuba Junction. We really enjoyed our time with you all. (Not a bad little spot to learn at either)

  Martina Ampio

5out of 5 stars
posted 1 month ago

If you want to get your Padi certification you must choose Scuba Junction! We all love scuba diving and we all love animals. Except for hundreds of fish species there is more to explore when youre with Scuba Junction Diving Co Ltd. Lets pick a normal day in the life. You walk down the street with the Scuba Junction Dive shop in sight. Once you come closer you notice one of our colourfull drawings on our "todays news" bill board at the entrance of our dive centre, but there is more! This "todays news" board is the favourite place to hang around for our pet Yuyu(Photo 2).
Yuyu is one of the street dogs that hang around at our dive centre. She is the most friendly and wisest dog of all the dogs. Once you pass by and say hello to the dog, she will roll over to her back and open up for a nice cuddle on her chest. As Yuyu is a busy dog, sometimes shes gone to manage all different kind of problems between all other dogs in this area. Any territorial problem will be fixed without fighting for she earned the right to be called the most wise dog in this area. Bart blog picture
Dont like dogs? No problem, once in the shop ready to sign yourself up for your dive experience youll find Number One(Photo 1). Number one is a black cat which basically sleeps 90% of the day in the middle of the counter exactly where you want to sign up for a dive. If she wakes up she asks you to fill her bowl with cat food; so she can go to sleep again well fed! Also Number One loves to be cuddled from time to time, and she likes the fan in the shop to cool herself down! Meow!
Once you walk over the beach towards our longtail-taxi boat you meet Sjack(Photo 3). Sjack is an old black dog that lives on the beach. We divers have one thing in common with Sjack; searching for fish! He searches in very shallow water close to Sairee reef. It is still a mystery why he stares at the corals for hours. There might be some interesting little fishies or crabs hiding!
If you come back from a dive and enjoy the sunset with us directly in the back of our shop your gonna notice George (Photo 4)! George is 4 years old and was found in the jungle as a pup and brought in by one of our past instructors. He is scared of everything that happens there for its hard to get close. Once you take out your camera to shoot a picture of the lovely sunset; George will jump in front to photo bomb your picture. Not a bad poser as he's a little German Sheperd that stays puppy forever!
Youre more than welcome to meet all our friendly pets in and around our dive centre!

Chumphon Pinnacle
Surrounding Koh Tao is a vast amount of beautiful dive sites. Each having unique rock and coral formations as well as equally unique aquatic life that call them home. However, there are some sites that seem to stand out atop the rest. One of these sites being Chumphon Pinnacle (45min NW of Koh Tao).
What gives this site the ability to stand out above so many others is due to the sheer variety it offers. Variety in terms of depth, geography, size and aquatic life. Wether you're a freshly certified Padi open water diver or have hundreds of dives under your weight belt, this place will make your jaw drop. Nicholas
The site itself is quite simple to navigate. Having only 1 main pinnacle with a smaller separate one (barracuda rock) to the SW of it. Along the top of the pinnacle (around 14m deep) there are fields of anenomes as well as schools of barracuda and batfish. Dropping off to the sides, divers can reach depths of 30+mtrs and even deeper as you make your way off the site.
Diving practically every day you would think things would start to get familiar and dull. That is never the case with Chumphon Pinnacle. It always delivers no matter the day; a stunning site with equally as stunning life that live there. Come and enjoy this gem of a dive site with us at Scuba Junction Diving Co Ltd.

Let's take a moment and just be completely honest here: it can be quite scary to take your first breath underwater. You've never done anything like it before. Your brain is telling you it's wrong, it's yelling at you “get to the surface you fool before you hurt yourself”. But then you relax, you center yourself, you think about something happy to calm yourself down like your adorable animal at home or that delicious meal you stuffed your face with last night, and then you realize you're safe. You find your peace, you take a breath, and, lo and behold, you're okay. You're more than okay, you're in a whole new world. Scuba Junction Diving Advanced open water night dive here we come

I know first hand how nervous or anxious you may be about starting your new scuba adventure underwater. Remember we were all there, right where you are now, at one point in our lives. I too thought there was no way I could muster the strength to breathe through this crazy contraption my instructor assured me would keep me safe. I too had to tell my brain to quiet down while it screamed at me to head back up to the surface. But then I thought about how excited I was going to be once I over came it and how much I was going to brag about it to my friends once I got home. All through this, I had the ever constant support and encouragement from my Instructor. He was always there, making eye contact with me, asking me if I was okay, reminding me to breathe, and just his presence gave me the support I needed to take my first breaths underwater. I carry this same technique in my own teaching style, making sure each and every one of my students feel supported and safe while we explore the amazing underwater world together.

As Instructors we have double duty, not only do we teach you the appropriate techniques and skills you need to be a good scuba diver, but we also serve as a sort of underwater counsellor. We use all forms of tactics to help you feel safe and calm while diving, from making sure all skills are thoroughly briefed, adding little personal stories about our own experiences, and offering corny jokes to help relieve any tension. At Scuba Junction Diving, we also have a maximum of 4 students to 1 instructor. This means you get the added attention you need to help you feel safe and comfortable during the entire length of your course. No pressure, no rushing, just a slow relaxed atmosphere conducive to all learning types.

So jump in, take the plunge and face that fear. Truly, as an Instructor, the coolest thing about my job is getting to watch the pure joy you will feel when you accomplish this incredible goal. Let me be like Disney's Aladdin, let me show you a whole new world, shining, shimmering, splendid. A new fantastic point of view.

Let Scuba into your life...Time to tick it off the bucket list
Never tried diving? Sitting on the sofa at home reading this? Let this blog open your eyes to the pure beauty of scuba diving and will have you reaching for nearest flight booking app!My name is Luchia Stone and I once was you, reading this from a laptop screen in rainy England (yes it does rain all the time) and now 3 years later I am a head instructor at Scuba Junction Diving still slightly perplexed that I am still here and with no regrets!Scuba Junction Diving is a small friendly safety conscious PADI 5 star dive center located on the idyllic beach front in Sairee, Koh Tao. We offer a range of dive courses from PADI Discover Scuba Diving right through to PADI Dive Master. This blog is going to look at how to become a PADI Open diver and how you can achieve your dreams in just 3 and a half days. (yes just 3 and a half days!!)Let me first explain how the course runs and the most important things you need to know! Scuba Diving is relatively easy to learn, but do make sure you are trained by a reputable school with experienced staff. Proper training will also make you aware of the most common problems that you could encounter underwater. Scuba Junction Diving acedemics in the classroom

Make sure that you are medically and physically fit to dive as certain medical conditions are not compatible with diving. Aside from physiological factors, it also helps to be physically fit. As you will need to swim 200metes and float for 10 minutes as part of your course, the fitter you are the easier diving is! Dust of those running shoes or brave the outdoor pool! We can send you a medical form prior to booking with us.Always double check that you don't need any vaccination jabs and you have travel insurance. You will be insured for all your scuba diving with Scuba Junction Diving. So you've arrived! for your 4pm start. You will be welcomed by one of our lovely staff members for your orientation. During your orientation you will fill in all your paper work and be shown around our lovely dive center. Its then into the classroom for the first 3 PADI videos. Finishing at around 6:30pm just in time for that all important selfie as the sun sets!

The next day starts at 8:00am with some theory, equipment set up and fitting you into our equipment. All our Scuba Pro equipment is fully serviced and maintained however you may want to purchase something of your own and your instructor will be more that happy to help you find that perfect mask. (I like mine all pink!) After a healthy lunch of local pad thai its out on to the boat to get down with the local aquatic life of Koh Tao. From taking those first underwater breaths you will realise how relaxing scuba diving is! We arrive back at the shop around 5pm to log our dives and plan the next day. At 8:00am we start the next day for some more videos, theory, diving and practicing being neutral buoyancy (feeling totally weightless whilst diving) and of course not forgetting cleaning our scuba gear after each day!

Scuba Junction Diving open water students on the mantaray boatThe final day is here and its a 06:45am start (dont worry we have coffee on the boat for those that are not early birds) and we are out to make our final open water dives too. We get back at 11am to finish that all important paper work for your final certification! Not forgetting sharing our experiences on facebook, instagram and making friends at home very jealous! Take the afternoon to relax and then we can all celebrate with our certification dinner with your new buddies at one of the many restaurants on Koh Tao and drink a well earnd beer (or maybe 3!) The PADI Open Water course certifies you to 18m and lasts for life, something that needs celebrating! So whats next...Seems logical that since you flew all the way out here, why stop diving? Continue with the PADI Advanced Open Water..5 dives in 2 days? How you may ask. Simplest answer..book a flight, pack a suitcase and come and see us! Turtles, Whale sharks and our famous Trigger fish are all waiting for you! It was the best decision I ever made and my life would not of been the same with out SCUBA J! Do one thing different today and you never know where it could lead you!

DMC Days
Back in 2015 my partner and I came to Koh Tao and signed up to do our OW with Scuba Junction Diving, we loved it so much that we continued to our AOW and after spending a lot longer on Koh Tao than we had planned (it has that effect a lot!), arrived back in the UK with 20 dives each and a massive diving bug!
Fast forward 2 years to another rainy, grey day in our little apartment in the UK where we sat questioning our life choices and dreaming of getting back to our ‘happy place’, we made the only sensible decision; book flights and start on our Dive Master training!
DMC fun divingToday, as I look back on the emotional rollercoaster that has been my DMC days, I can honestly say it has been amazing! It’s been tough in places, it has broken me down and built me back up again, it’s been fun, there have been a lot of laughs (and a few tears) but overall it has been an incredible and massively rewarding experience.
I’m so glad we came back to Scuba Junction Diving for my DMC as it’s the team of people there that have made this time so amazing, you really are welcomed into the family like a long lost relative and it’s so strange to think I’ve only known this wonderful group of people a few short months – Scuba J, you rock!!
